I just installed my Opteron 165 currently only running at 1.98ghz. At idle it runs around 40 degrees celsius. Under full load it is hitting 50 degrees. This with an Arctic Cooling Freezer64. Are these temps as high as they seem?

what are you using to measure these temps? 50 still isnt BAD as such, but it does seem a bit high. what voltage/ board?

Just the ASUS Probe software. This is with an A8N-SLI board. Running at the default 1.36v.

Would tell you the board isn't calibrated correctly :) It happens. Don't worry about it.

Boards temp sensors messed up. Check to make sure you have the 64 seated really quickly first though.

that's normal temperature guys, especially if you have q-fan enabled in the bios. Although it's a few degrees higher than my 3800+ X2.

Okay thanks for the information. As I recall, when I previously had a 3500+ in this machine I noticed high temperatures. So I guess it is just reporting incorrectly. In any rate, I have been able to get it up to 2.4ghz running with Prime95. Tried 2.5ghz but it immediatly gave a rounding error in Prime95. Going to let it run overnight and then try for 2.5ghz again. Not bad for being a crappy 0551 and running stock voltage I guess.
