Is quite strange, when I play DX 9 games, rarely exceeds the 75C threshold, but when I play games like Serious Sam Second Encounter in OpenGL, the GPU warms up to 85C, I haven't seen any artifacts, or slowdowns, nothing. And my case is running open, with 3 fans and my room temperature is hoving around 85F. Is this a normal temperature to my Radeon X800XT PE?? It just have an slight core overclock of 7MHz, and the RAM about 1160MHz. Thanks and sorry for my bad english. :)

The only game that my only X800 XTPE can play is Oblivion. There no other game installed on that PC. I was experiencing some video blackouts at that same 82-85 Celcius temperature. The fan and heat sink looked undersized, and there was an inexpensive fan assembly available (An Antec "Vcool"). I did have to unsnap the rear mount bracket, rotate it 180 degrees, and reassemble it, to face the Vcool's air output upward. Now, the GPU never goes past 73 Celcius.

Someone here claimed that an ATI tech report claims no damage is likely on up past 100 Celcius, but I couldn't find any such ATI report, nor could I get anything other than formula/ form letter replies with no real meaning, when I eMailed ATI's tech support. That always was an ATI weakness.

Put the case back on, the fans generate airflow and you're just stagnating it. I would also take the cooler off the X800XT PE and totally clean it of any dust and hair that might be in it.

Pity my X800XT PE is a poor overclocker in Core, in RAM is good enough, but barely can exceeds 1180Mhz Speed, and when I try to use the ATi Tray Tool (latest release) It freezes up no matter if the card is overclocked or not, I'm damned and condemned to use Cataclism Descontrol Centre, crap!!!
