High Temperatures on an i7 930

It seems like no matter what I do my CPU temperatures are high in comparison to other peoples temps. I recently upgraded to a RV02-E case which has great airflow. My gpu temperatures improved significantly but my cpu temps didn't. I installed Megahalems with the Prolimatech paste and my temps under load @ 4GHz 1.35v went almost instantly up to 82 degrees. The temps hit a wall at about 82 which I thought was strange. I thought I had a bad application of paste so I reapplied with IC Diamond, using the dot in the middle method, and the temperatures were about the same if not higher. My ambient temperatures are around 20-22C. I have seen many other people and reviews that have achieved this voltage/clock at high 60s low 70s. This problem has existed even with my previous processor, an i7 920. The screws on the megahalems are as tight as they can be and remounting provides no significant difference. I am using a push pull configuration with Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000rpm fans. I have used MX-2, PK-1, IC Diamond, and Indigo Extreme. Indigo Extreme still gave me high 70s at these settings. On stock settings the temperatures are around the low 60s under load. The idle temperatures on my CPU are mid to high 30s.

Did I get a hot chip or could something else be causing my CPU temps to rise? Could my motherboard be reporting high temperatures?

First of all, Welcome to the Anandtech forums :)

I'll load up linx for about 5 min and tell you my temps using HWmonitor (rig2)

I'm thinking it's your volts.

EDIT: side case is open on Obsidian 800D, ambient temp is 71*F, HT off, using a Pro Mega Shadow

core temps at idle in Celsius :
core 0 = 33
core 1 = 30
core 2 = 34
core 3 = 28

Ran LinX for around 5 minutes "All" memory usage

core temps at full load in Celsius:
core 0 = 56
core 1 = 53
core 2 = 54
core 3 = 50

mine will hit 65-75 with 20c ambients, have seen it as high as low 90's with 30-35c ambients. Running 4.2Ghz with 1.35v and a NH-D14 sink.

Your temps do look a little high but i wouldnt let 80c stop you from overclocking, as long as its not getting into the 90's you should be ok.
