i have a gigabyte GA-7VRXP Raid mobo no matter what heat sink i put on her bios idle temp is 49c , is it a flaw with sensor before i invest in more hsf.
1600 agoia y @ 1800
also is there a utilty that will work to display temp in win xp?

What type of Heatsink/Fan are you using? Also, what kind of Thermal Compound are you using?

If you are using Arctic Silver as your thermal compound make sure that you don't have too much on. You don't want to put as much as the AS website instructs shows... instead you want a "translucent haze" on your CPU die. I went from AS instructs to "translucent haze" and dropped 5C!

had the alpha (one you screw to board) tried the gvc one , ready to purchase the AX-7 or Volcanno 7+
using aslll

Have you been putting a decent layer of AS3 on, or is it really just a "translucent haze." If you have been putting a layer on I would suggest trying the "haze" method...

Good luck!

i was at 50c with an sk-6 @1.9Ghz....i never had a problem...

im now down to 42c load with an SLK 800 =D

Is that 1800 MHz, or an 1800+ rating?

Also, what is your Vcore? Ambient temp? Case temp?

Those are 4 critical factors.

i have a abit kr7a, 1600+ o/c to 1.65ghz, thermaltake 6cu hsf, mushkin high performance 256MB 2100, radeon 8500, antec truepower 330. i can't seem to o/c any higher than a fsb of 157. i've tried upping voltage all the way to 1.85 and ddr voltage to 2.65. normal temp running at 55C while looping 3dmark2001se. any ideas on my bottleneck? heat?

thanks,
jt
