high speed wireless connection w/ a twist

Ok so me and my girlfriend are moving to near campus housing owned by the university. There is strange restrictions on the network though. They only give you one wired rj45 port per room. You are not allowed to have any type of network. (no routers, switches, hubs, access points, nothing). Also we are restricted to only 4 static ips for the room. The entire campus is wireless though everywhere. So my questions now are what wireless devices will give me the fastest and most reliable wireless signal. I am looking for fast wireless because one of my machines acts as a backup server for our other machines. Also it serves media to my xbox. Wired has been good to me but now how to handle wireless for high speeds.

I would daisy chain the computers...although it would require two nic in each PC.

I haven't had much luck with my current wireless setup...so my opinion probably won't help.
