High-speed video (rx 100 m5)

Do I have any other choices for high speed video other than this? Seems stupidly expensive and this series of camera has only increased in price. Any deals I should keep an eye out for or new camera releases? This is the only thing I'm seeing doing video this fast

As far as I know, no. This is still unique to Sony because they came up with the front side LSI chip on their sensors that helps move the data off the sensor extremely fast. So unless Sony starts selling these sensors to other manufacturers or other sensor manufacturers coming out with their own you likely won't see it anywhere else.

You do know that at the very high frame rates of 960fps you're looking at only 4-7 seconds of recording time depending on the quality right? You can extend it to 40 seconds or so by lowering the quality even more but I don't see the point. And there's only so many things you can shoot in slo-mo before it gets old.

Yes I understand the time constraints. I'm happy with them. If this was the only thing the camera did it would fulfill the needs. I'm specifically needing slow motion for my application.

I haven't seen these listed on slickdeals.net much. Are there sales than run or coupons that can be applied for significant amounts off this level of camera? I'd like to pay $500 max, but even $750 isn't that bad. $1000 is just do much money. I probably just need to wait for at least 1 competitor though.
