Is it me or did manufacturers pimp the hell out of SCSI CD-r/rw drives until about 8-16x then abondon them completely? Plextor has a 40x IDE yet thier fastest SCSI appears to be the 12x10x, Yamaha has the fastest I've seen at 20x10x. What happened?!

In another thread, forcesho found an ide to scsi convertor that can be used to make any ide cdrw scsi. It was kinda steep at $80, but cool nonetheless.

It would be great to mate it with fast cdrw that can burn safedisc - like the liteon or plextor.

it's much more profitable for manufacturers to produce & sell ide cdrws!
