High Speed HDMI with Ethernet

I recently bought a plasma Smart Panasonic Viera (TCP50ST50). I bought a "high performance" HDMI years ago, and I seem to be able to play 3D content off of my PC and PS3, albeit it doesn't look great (I don't have 3D blue rays yet, so I don't know how that will look). Anyway, I want to buy a new high speed HDMI with ethernet cable, but my model doesn't support ethernet over HDMI. Since the "with ethernet" models seem to be the highest rated on Newegg, I'd prefer to buy one of these. Would the tv still be able to properly display the 3D content even if the ethernet function doesn't work, or would buying a regular high speed HDMI (without ethernet) be a safer decision? In other words, would the ethernet functionality somehow prevent my tv from playing 3D content?
