High speed broadband for traveling...

Is there any type of high speed broadband service available that you can sign up for, say while you travel? It can be monthly, and cost isn't too much of a factor, but speed is. Must be able to support gaming type bandwidth... Does this exist?

...perhaps something similar to mobile internet but with higher speed? Basically anything to avoid horrible hotel service.

The network is still being rolled out so coverage may not be available everywhere. Check the coverage maps first. It offers low pings (compared to 3G) and is supposed to be a replacement for home connections. It can do about 4-6 Mbps I think?

I have 3 G verizon EVDO. As long as you are within 2 miles from a Verizon tower you can expect about 1.3 mbits /sec down with just a usb modem. If you buy your own modem you can get it with a month by month contract and get 5 GB/mo for $60.00. Sprint, Tmobile, and AT&T have similar deals but check your carrier for details. And some allow you to suspend your account for a period of months.

4G internet has also arrived but coverage is very thin right now. But 4G offers the potential to offer much faster speeds for a lesser price.
