I need a high CPU performance virtual server by the middle of Sunday GMT! Its going to take me 2 hours to build the box for purpose and its needed for 20:15 CET. With that timescale this is what I am looking for:
1) A box in Europe
2) Virtual machine that I can spin up and then spin down once done later that day getting charged appropriately for my usage. For the day would likely be fine but I don't want it for a month, I want it for 6-8 hours.
3) It needs to be able to reach about 10GFlop/s on a single thread. That translates to about 3.3Ghz on a second gen Sandy Bridge CPU. Ie pretty high spec for a server CPU.
4) It needs at least 2 cores. The app doesn't utilise more than that.
5) RAM usage is miniscule, 2GB is more than enough as the app is 500MB of usage.
6) Bandwidth usage below 20GB for the entire period but we need consistently about 20mbit/s throughput outgoing and around 2.5mbit/s incoming, so basically 100/100.
7) Windows server 2008 R2 or later
Does anyone know of a company that might rent me a virtual box with such high CPU performance on short notice for short periods like this?
I tested an Amazon EC2 second gen M3 high memory instance and it achieves about 8.6 GFlop/s (2.8Ghz) but I need a little bit more than that. My current transip.eu box (2.0 Ghz i7) is about 6 GFlop/s and its definitely not enough. This is a realtime app that only utilises two cores we have blown right out the top of our servers capacity this week and need to fill the gap until hardware arrives.
Any suggestions?
