High score for a TI4200?

I just got my new machine up and running this evening. Nothing special, P4 1.6A, Albatron845PEV PRO, AOPEN Geforce4 TI 4200, 512MB OCZ PC 2400 RAM, Maxtor 80GB 8mb HD. I have not overclocked at all and had only gotten around 7200 with the same card in my old machine. I installed 3DMark2001Se and ran it, I got 8631. This is all with stock stuff straight from the driver disks that came with the hardware.

I tried to link straight to the page with my score and the comparisons on it, but it does not seem to work.3DMARK

Any one else think that this is a bit unusual?

I suppose that I should have mentioned that the only difference between my old machine and this one is the mother board and the HD.

Score looks decent.. you can probably go a little higher if you tweak and O/C the video too.
my system 1.8A @ 2.7 with a Ti4200 scored about 12,500 on 3dmark2k1SE.

try the new nvidia drivers 42.90 from guru3d
your scores could be a lot better.

i scored 10055 with my XP2000+/ti4200 and i barely tweaked it.

im sure i could hit around 11000+

Here's mine: 12227
Not much time to mess with it yet. I just threw in an 8rda+ OC;ed to 2.22Ghz, Crucial PC2100ddr running at 136FSB Cas 2 and my new Abit 4200 OTES which comes clocked at 275/550 stock. This score was was at 285/570 I think. Stock speeds for card I hit 11927.

Cant wait to see what happens when I can run ram in synch with CPU.

Anyone know why I only get 9140 3dMark2001 score on my AthlonXP 1900+? I got a PNY Ti4200 128MB 8x and 384 DDR PC2100 on a ECS k7s5a. :(

Answer: ECS K7S5A. Seriously though, I used to have A XP1800+, Ti4400, and an Epox 8k3a that would do 10,000 stock, so your score isn't too far off. The chipset on the ECS is slower than a KT266A or any of the newer ones, so that is one reason your score is a little low. Getting a new nForce2 would give you at least 1,000 more 3dMarks.

Also, what are your memory timings? The Athlon XP is pretty sesitive to memory timings, so the tighter you have them, the better your score will be.

With a 2100+ with pc133 sdram on an ECS motherboard without tweaking or playing with new drivers i got like 8900 so your not doing badly, if you''ve already tweaked, and have driver version 42.86 or so, and overclocked etc, you should get around 10k

I score around 9300 and 9650 with my MSI GeForce4-Ti4400 oc'ed to 330/630. I guess that's pretty good for a Tualatin Celeron, eh?:)

It's definately your CPU that's holding your 3dmark scores back. If you o/c it to just 2.133 GHz you will get a huge boost in speed and performance. Here's some scores I got for reference:

All tests done with an MSI GF4 Ti4200 64MB @300/600
also, used were 2 X 256MB PC2700 Samsung DDR, Windows XP, etc.

AMD Athlon 1100Mhz (100 FSB), Epox 8K5A2+ motherboard : 8182

AMD Athlon XP 1700+ @ 1.833 MHz (166 FSB), Epox 8K5A2+ motherboard: 11212

AMD Athlon XP 2100+ @ 2.168 GHz (166 FSB), Epox 8K5A2+ motherboard: 11755

AMD Athlon XP 2100+ @ 2.168 GHz (166FSB), dual channel DDR, Epox 8RDA+ motherboard: 12981

AMD Athlon XP 2100+ @ 2.25 GHz (180 FSB), dual channel DDR, Epox 8RDA+ motherboard: 13362

It is the K7S5A. I ran a GF3 Ti200 @ 200/500 on that board and on an 8KHA+ (both with PC2100 DDR) and got ~7000 on the K7S5A and over 8000 on the 8KHA+. SDRAM on that board wasn't too much slower with the GF3, around 6400 marks.

1.6@2.53Ghz With NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 (300/550) its about 13049 with everthing O/C
CPU O/Ced but not video card about 11657
Stock about 8347

So you system is about right and i'm using the same mobo/CPU as you :D

please note:
when you overclock a 100FSB cpu (16X100) you only have two mem speed to pick 1.5 or 2.66
If you pick 1.5 you be running you mem slower then the FSB
If you pick 2.66 you are more likey to max out you mem before your CPU...
and this mobo under volts so don't hold back so much

have funny :D
If you need help overclocking your mobo/cpu feel free to PM me :)

Update, I did as ShowdOWN suggested and updated my drivers from the ones that came with the card, and it upped my score from 8631 to 9206. Thats a jump of nearly 600 points. The card that I have has the 3.6ns speed RAM and is clocked at 250/550 stock.

Thanx. I was looking at all my old scores from when I 1st built my own pc. Went from a tbird 1.2 w/g2 mx200 and score of 2000 or so about 2 years ago, to where I am today :)

What a little bit of $$ and some technology can do for you :)
