High School

I am a junior and I friggin hate high school. I have only like 3 friends, and my grades suck this year. Anyone have a similar experience? Does life get better in college? What should I do to make it better?

rights of passage, everyone must go through them.

I think life does get better in college... so much more freedom to have fun... but also freedom to screw up.

Life, be it high school, college, etc.. is what YOU make of it.. if you're expecting life to hand everything to you.. you're in for quite the wake up call...

If you want college to be a great time.. then you're going to have to make it a great time, if you want high school to be great, they hell, get off you ass, study, go out meet people, and don't complain since it'll only ever be your fault, not the worlds, nor anyone else's.

Quite honestly, you seem a little antisocial. Things that worked for me?

Try to look better. Whether that means going to the gym, dressing nicer, or just simply combing your hair, people will be more receptive to you, students and teachers. Also, you may have too much time on your hands. Get a job, and you'll appreciate life more.

I don't get why people hate(d) high school so much. I love it and I'm making the most of it. I just don't get it. 😕

It's not like I just woke up and one day I had this huge group of friends to hang out with.

I actually sort of miss it occasionally.

It was great having a fraction of the responsibility I do now.

Do your 3 friends only have 3 friends? If not network. It's easier to network than to go meet new people, but eventually you are going to have to do both. Find people that have the same interests.

High school's been fun for me so far. Yes, homework sucks and I work hard to maintain my 4.335 but I spend a lot of time with friends and whomnot, which is an integral part of enjoying school. Seriously, make some more friends.

3 friends? How big is your high school? Get off the computer, go hang around and make some friends 🙂

about 100 in the junior class and the school itself is like 80% males because it used to be an all guys school. 500 total in the school. I have more than 3.....its like 8 or 9, but only close to like 4.

Also, don't focus too much on quantity. I wouldn't want to be "friends" with people that I consider casual acquaintences. Its more for you to get out and experience different groups and becoming more social.

Good luck.

🙂

Highschool has a lot more of a "hierarchy" inherent because everyone there knew each other for so long . . .. If you don't fit in, you're not going to like it, unfortunately. 🙁

College, on the other hand, is a lot more open because it's a congragation of "free spirits" - well, they're a lot more open to others, being out on their own for the first time and all. Unless you're a republican. Then you suck. 😉

Its not my appearance, but thanks for the other advice. My appearance is fine, since I am in shape and there is a dress code at the school.

Agree 100%. At least with the high school part. I've known all my friends since 5th grade, and I know where I fit in. I've only made a few friends since then, and if you're a new student it's pretty hard to find your place, at least in my school.

Hmm, damn. I would recommend a job then-more money for you to enjoy, and also people value you more since you're not always there.

Yes. You could call first. Just make sure you are dressed nicely if this place is decent since you may be speaking with the owner/manager.
