It is caught on video. He should just be told to not do that ever again in school or face the suspension.
Wow, you're absolutely right!

Except, what if he WAS told not to do that ever again in school or face the suspension, and this time was the next time after being told not to? (Which apparently is what happened here.)

edit: though I believe a 1 year suspension is excessive given what he did.

No wonder people hate schools and teachers.

What do you call a thousand lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? A good start.

What do you call a thousand teachers at the bottom of the ocean? A better start.

The whole education system in the US needs to be rebooted. Fire every teacher and every school administrator, and give them jobs picking up trash where they belong. Then hire all new teachers and abolish their unions.

That tired old joke should end with: who do you call when you have a legal problem? a lawyer.

Yep, that will fix just about nothing...

This is what happens when there is a monopoly on education.

~ EDIT ~

That kid that was expelled, he needs to take his tax voucher to another school.

If schools did not have a monopoly on education a lot of things would be different.

o_O What the hell I don't even...

You dont even what?

A kid gets kicked out of school, what now? Can he go to another school in his community? Or are all of the schools part of the same district?

Are there 2, 3 or 4 schools competing for tax dollars and students?

Maybe pay to go to a private school?

What we need are schools competing against each other for students and tax dollars.

The teacher obviously doesn't want that hug, but a 1 year suspension for that seems completely out of whack. There must be more to the story.

There probably is, but with most school suspension stories, we will usually only hear the student's side, as privacy laws prevent the school from releasing information about their side without the consent of the student & parents involved.

Why does it not surprise me that Texashiker hates teachers. Judging from his posting history, education is not something he's ever supported or gotten much of.

i have no problem with him getting a suspension. 1 yr is insane though. Also from the sounds of it this was more then a hug (teacher claims his lips touched the back of her cheek)

I had a 3.8 gpa in college (while working a full time job) and love history.

My distaste for teachers has nothing to do with my desire to learn.

Teachers and education should not be associated with each other. Both are separate from each other. You can have teachers that never educate their students, and you can have education without school teachers.

There is no education monopoly. My daughter goes to a private school.

So does mine. I wish they had a private school to teach young women how to marry rich dudes, I would so send her to a school like that.

You pay money for her to go to that school?

What makes you think everyone can afford, or private schools are available everywhere?

Yes, I pay a lot of money for her to go to that school. Private schools are everywhere. If you want an alternative, you'll have to work for it. That's life. Work to get what you want, or accept the entry level default option.

My daughter wants to be a physicist. She'll have her pick of any nerd she wants someday.

Wait a second... :hmm:

The article doesn't seem to be loading for me. I'll go out on a limb and guess that this "hug" was not consensual. If some random dude tries to hug me when I don't want to be hugged, he can expect a knee to the balls.

It is easy for you to talk about paying this or that when families are barely getting by.

If you are a working class peasant the local school districts have a monopoly on education.

Private schools are everywhere.

From your small sampling you think private schools are everywhere?

I am so tired of people bitching about something that they are getting for free. When you actually PAY for your own kids education, THEN you can bitch about it. Jesus.... and you call me a socialist!

I pay a school tax.

Because I vote and pay taxes I have a right to "bitch."
