Going into senior year and I was wondering which class I should take for math: AP Statistics or AP Calculus, which one is easier or more tolerable? I really don't want a stressful last year so I'm leaning towards the easier class, just don't know which one that my be...

Thanks for the feedback

if you are going into business school take stats. it will help you out when you take it in college. too bad my HS didn't have a stats class.

My stats teacher is the worst, but other than that it seems pretty easy. I pretty much have to teach myself the stuff through the book. Fortunately it's pretty simple.

Statistics is quite hard until something clicks. Then it is a piece of cake. Proably takes the average person 2-3 weeks until that 'Eureka' state happens.

Calculus is actually quite easy - but requires a lot of algebra. It is the algebra that kills everyone. I hear the same complaint over and over again that someone is stuck on a hard calculus problem. I look in and see the calculus is solved, but there is still some algebra simplification to do. If you think algebra is easy, then calculus is easy.

Overall, statistics would be much less work. Sad that you think you need an easy year. Good way to be blindsided by hard college courses and lose your scholarships (I've seen it happen over and over again).

It's not like I'm slacking, I'm taking 3 AP classes (all the my school offers for seniors), it's just I want an easier year the last becuase junior year was crazy.

I didn't take either when I was in high school. any space I had for optional classes was filled by English classes.

in this situation, though, I'd go with stats, unless you're planning on studying something math-intensive in college.

I took stats but had a rough time because my teacher knew less about it than I did(the soccer coach in his mid 20's). I'd say it's much easier, I managed a decent grade teaching myself everything.

if you have a good algebra foundation then calculus will be a breeze. I did HORRIBLE in algebra 1 and 2, and then I skipped pre-calculus and took calculus at college during summer session (a semesters worth crammed into 6 weeks). The calculus part, with a good teacher, is very easy to understand. The algebra killed me, but I managed to get a B in the class.

Only statistics course I took was business stat and it was easy as pie

Calc will help you better in college. Stats is easy, save that for the easy A in college. :)

AP Stat is a joke. AP Calc can be relatively difficult, especially if you take the BC test.

I thought stats was required if you were going into business? I guess calculus is too though...

AP Stats is ridiculously easy. AP Calc is also easy if you have a good teacher.

Take AP Calc. It'll do you more good in the long run and help you get an A in calc in college.

Calculus is a totally useless course, unless you want to do something with it later in college, in which case getting a head up on it is useful. Stats is one of the few math courses (besides fractions in grade two) that are actually worth a damn, and you can use them outside of the classroom.

At my school, stat was a total joke and extremely easy. Calc BC was hard, Calc AB wasn't too bad. Both are useful for passing intro calc class in college.
