High resolutions on tvs...

Of the same size cost significantly less? Like if you wanted to get an LCD TV thats 17" it will be 1k at least but a 17" LCD is only 400 for ex. Also why is it that tvs with DVI inputs or component inputs that are 40in or 30in only do a max of 1080P? Can't they have TVs with a large size do resolutions like 2048X1536? I have a 72inch plasma at home and it doesn't look very good because of the low resolution picture of standard broadcast or HD..

because the TV industry has SET resolutions . . . it wouldnt make sense to have 2048x1536, you'd still get 1080p

but then TV would look weird

also, i highly doubt that a lot of people use their TV as a computer monitor . . .
