Edit: Didn't think the cord was needed except for SLI. Thanks.
I just tried to install an MSI NX8800GT OC in my computer (see Rig in my Sig)
I was replacing an MSI 6600GT with an MSI 8800GT on a K8N Neo-4 MB. New Corsair 520 PSU
Physical install went fine. I assume that the extra power cord is for SLI and not needed for a single card install, since the instructions didn't mention the power cord (or is that not the case?)
As soon as I power up the PC, I get a continuous high pitched beep. Not a healthy sound, so I powered down pretty quickly. Returning to the 6600GT makes the machine happy again.
Do I need the power cord from the PSU to the back of the GPU? Do I have a DOA unit?
Thanks,
