When I ping the gateway(192.168.1.1) its mostly between 10-20ms....on rare occasions its 1ms. Im unable to figure out why this is happening. My router is the Asus RT-N56U. My laptop is the Thinkpad X1 carbon. Below is some info of my network adapter :

SSID: virus.exe
Protocol: 802.11n
Security type: WPA2-Personal
Network band: 2.4 GHz
Network channel: 2
IPv4 address: 192.168.1.218
IPv4 DNS Servers: 192.168.1.1
Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Description: Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265
Driver version: 19.20.0.6

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide in advance!

1. Ping it over wired to see if the results are different.

2. Do you have any other access points in your area, possibly causing interference?

3. Is the router firmware at the latest?

4. If you connect to other access points, is ping the same?

Does using wired connection make it any better? What about access points? Also, have you tried another laptop/PC? or a router for that matter and see if results are any different with them?
