hey guys

i'm about to venture into the 1.6a northwood overclocking frenzy and need a little advice. which would yield higher overclocking potential?? At Mushkin, they have High Performance PC2100, or standard PC2700. Now technically, the PC2700 can handle higher fsb's before its actually overclocked. But would the high performance sticks have more ocing potential, despite being rated slower? any personal experiences or feedback is welcome

thanx

The pc 2700 should allow a higher fsb speed, which I am assuming is what you want. Even the highest quality 2100 isn't guaranteed to run at 2700 speeds. I would guess (and that's what it is) that the 2100 would OC to a higher percentage (but still lower FSB) than the 2700, and I doubt those high performance could even reach 2700 levels consistently. I have used 5 or so Mushkins sticks of memory, and all have been top notch quality. I currently have two Mushkin pc2100 "special" (not high-performance to my knowledge) 256 MB sticks in my computer running @ 150 fsb with an AMD 1600xp. My soyo dragon+ has an issue with using more than one stick at a time, so it's not 100% stable. This infrequent instability shouldn't be contributed to the memory. Each will run at 150+ @ cl2 perfectly stable when installed alone. I would not expect the memory to run at pc2700 levels.

I agree with JameyF. You may be able to get better results from OC'ing the 2100, but I doubt you would get it to 333. I would go with the 2700.
