Skip Barber has a great racing school. I personally know 2 of their instructors, and they are great guys. I havn't done it myself, but I hear nothing but good things about it.

I have attended several Evolution Performance Driving Schools. It is mostly about Autocross, but you learn alot about your vehicle and how it performs at the limit through these schools. They are very cool.

What kind of car do you drive?

BMW 540I 6 Speed. All those driving schools are not in California. Any recommendation for a Southern Cali driving school?

Skip Barber hold sessions at Laguna Seca near Monterey. There's others that I can't think of right now.

Check a major road course track near you, they probably have some type of HPDE where you can drive your own car. Usually a 4-hour class one night and then all day on the track with an instructor the following day, bring your own helmet. Good fun if you got the wheels.

Don't forget the 2.0 liter Formula Dodge racecars :). While it doesn't sound like much, they're wicked fast in comparison to a street car.

Both instructors I know have raced in the Formula Dodge series. One didn't do as well as he hoped, but the other is doing exceptionally well (winning!).
