I had temps in the low 30s on my old 955X ASUS motherboard with an overclocked 920 doing 4.0Ghz dual core. Now I just got my E6600 rig together and the temps have almost flipflopped. I have about 38°C under completely full load on the CPU (2xF@H, Prime 95 torture, ATI Tool running fuzzy cube thingy, Anti-Virus scan running, plus lots of apps open), but the motherboard is a toasty 53°C, which is way higher than I'm used to seeing a motherboard run. I have the E6600 at a mild 3.0Ghz overclock [9x333Mhz FSB or DDR2 666:evil:]. I just using air cooling with a Zalman 7700Cu cooler on the CPU.

It seems that Conroes (and Allendales, for that matter) are only very cool at stock speeds. Of course, Intel never said they'd be cool at 5 Ghz.:D
