High Memory Usage

My computer seemed really slow today on the internet so I checked task manager, under performance tab and it says 85% of my memory is being used or 6.8GB. I don't even have my browser open and nothing running that I know of.

If I open Chrome browser, it still says 85% or 6.8GB. If I open about 20 tabs it's maxed out at 7.9GB and is hardly responsive when I try to click on something.

What could be causing so much memory usage?

I'm using Windows 8 if that makes a difference.

Can you check in the task manager, you might need to click on "show processes from all users"

Wierd. Even after 3 reboots it was still doing it. Now all the sudden it dropped to 1.3GB and everythings working snappy again.

What could have caused it to used all that memory?

Task manager has multiple tabs, one of those shows all the processes and you can sort it by the amount of RAM its using. You were literally 2 clicks away from knowing the answer.

Yeah Bright one, I already mentioned I was in task manager if you were paying attention. There was nothing showing using more than Chrome was wich was 440mb, nothing else was even over 100mb.
