High memory usage in windows 7 (64-bit)?

According to windows task manage my system is is using 1 gig of memory (right after a reboot, while idle). Is this unusually high?

I did a clean install just a few days ago and have only a few programs installed. Daemon tools lite, Nod32, steam, winrar, and winamp. and that's pretty much it.

Thanks

The OS adjust itself to the available memory.

As an example boot Win 7 on a computer with 512MB, it would take about 300MB after the boot finished and would hold a live 200MB for keep going.

With 4GB of memory, 1GB used at the end of the boot is about right.

My 7 64 bit takes about 1GB, including the AV software. That is not bad actually for a 64-bit system...
