High Impedance Cable Needed or Not??

Does it make a difference if you are using a high impedance scsi cable or not for printers because I have an Alps MD-2300 printer and when I startup the computer (MAC and Win2000 it doesnt work), the computer locks. Could this be caused by a non-high impedance cable? This is driving me crazy!!! I have an active and passive terminator and switched both and still does not work!!
