Hi all - I'll search/ask about this on head-fi soon but I'll be busy for the next week in LA...I currently have a pair of newish Shure SE535 that have < 50 hours on them. I just found out that I'll be on the road A LOT these coming few months and am considering selling them and upgrading to something a little nicer.

Can you give me a few suggestions on what to look for in the $500+ range? (I'm thinking maybe up to $800? We'll see) If I upgrade I'll definitely get a mold done for my ears. I am very vaguely familiar with offerings in this price range since I'm more of a home audio/speaker kind of guy, so I'll definitely have to do a lot of research.

Yeah, I remember that thread and just came across it again when I did a quick google search...too bad my hotel internet is so slow that I'll read it through when I have more time to sit and download everything. 😛
 
yep, when you get into high end iem's (~$200+) earbud fit starts to get more important (earbud fit is always important though many high end earbuds still don't have great earbud tips)
custom fit earbuds are pretty expensive though
there is a cheap set of do it yourself earbud tips, but they do seem to have some issues with quality control and not setting correctly

eartips can make a big difference, and the cheapy monoprice earbuds kind of prove it in a round about way (replace the uncomfortable earbud tips and you have a really good set of earbuds for the price)
