High End Laptop Question

I have a question/seeking your thoughts.

I just ordered an hp envy 15. It came, but is missing several parts that I ordered. There is also a dent in the case. In addition, it has already just randomly shut down once without warning.

The specs are fairly high end
16 gb ram
core i7
1 tb hybrid HDD

My question is this. I have also been thinking about the new Dell XPS 15's, specifically the top end model. I paid about 1600 for this one with a nice warranty. Do you think the Dell (512 GB SSD, nicer screen, better build quality) is worth an extra $1,000?

Thanks

You ordered a new laptop and it came dented and missing parts??? What the hell?

And it was NEW, and not refurbished? I would take it back to HP, get them to replace it until it was perfect. Then, I would take the $1000 difference and put that toward an SSD for the Envy. IMO, Windows 8.1 still isn't quite ready for the prime-time with these hiDPI displays, so the higher res display on the XPS 15 isn't, to me, a huge draw.
