High-end graphics card advice

I decided to retire my Dell XS Studio Laptop and I'm going to buy a gaming rig.

My aim is to find a configuration which requires little to no tinkering; reliable, yet fast. I don't want to overclock anything. So far I came up with the following requirements:
- at least 1080p resolution gaming on high/ultra settings,
- if possible, gsync (or equivalent tech) enabled – for example, I would love to buy a monitor such as ASUS ROG Swift in the near future,
- probably no need for more than 4 cores (no ultra-parallel software installed),
- if it works with Oculus Rift, that’d be great.
Below are the specs I found on my own, which I hope fulfill most of my requirements (sites are in Polish, but self-describing peripheral descriptions are at the bottom of each page):
- http://www.x-kom.pl/p/177319-desktop-x-kom-tesla-i7-4770k-8gb-1000-br-rw-gtx-780.html (ssd is an option)
It seems that gtx 780 is a card to go, but if I can save on AMD (or another GeForce) alternative and somehow improve the configuration, I might reconsider that choice.
If someone could give some examples of reliable PC hardware stores with cheap shipping to Europe (Poland), it would be great, too.
Ideally, I would love to buy a tested, solid out of the box configuration with some vendor additions, but those tend to be exclusive to laptops/not available in my region/overpriced.

Your advice is highly appreciated. Thanks!

Definitely wait a couple more months for GTX 870/880 info. Or get yourself a used 290 for cheap to hold you over

I am with the rest of the guys.

Maxwell is coming, that's gonna push cards like the 780/290(x) down in price. And hopefully give some performance increases on the top end.

Thanks for info. I forgot to even mention questions about next generation of GPUs. I could wait, but are new graphics card worth waiting for? Is it certain that for the same price I will get more power efficient/faster card? I heard that prices of previous generation GPUs drop rather slowly.

Edit: Didn't notice post above.

Indications are that Maxwell will be a significant upgrade, yes. The 750Ti showed extreme gains in power efficiency, and for high-end, power efficiency translates into performance.

And it's close enough that it's worth waiting for, at least for more detail about it. Of course, I've been telling myself that since February...but it's actually reasonable to say it now.
