the 105 isn't really worth it over the 103 if you dont have a use for the extra audio stuff in it

but in general the oppos offer more features for tweaking your picture and higher quality components (DACs and such) vs cheaper models

Not sure I have use to audio stuff. I have a decent receiver. But the DAC you mention has me thinking. I have a PC hooked up to my HT, can I run the PC audio through the DAC on the Oppo?

Why would you want to? Connecting your PC digitally to your receiver is the best solution anyway.

I don't think you need the 105. The 103 should be more than capable for your usage case. The 105's extra's are only on the analog stage, which you aren't even going to use (since you will be using your Denon connected via HDMI for your audio). Otherwise the 103 and 105 are the same on the digital side.

Funny how people still talk about DACs in regards to video gear when 99% of the time everything is digital.

Well given that those are BD players...

If you are only planning to use HDMI, then you won't see a big difference between the Sony and Oppo playing BD's. The Oppo should do a better job of upconverting DVD's though.

This is the difference. A crap DVD player will do a worse job upconverting than your TV, a great one will do better than your TV.

A much better solution is to only stick to high-def material. :colbert:

The Oppo will also upconvert Blu-Rays to 4k, as well as convert 2D format to simulated 3D (it works pretty well).
