RandomMai im in the same boat. I'm debating with those two monitors also. Please let me know what your final decision is, because I'm going to BB today to buy it. I'm now leaning more towards the 955DF.

i went to best buy thursday to look at the samsung 955df
To me it was very dull looking, but then again all the tvs look dull there because they use a horrible cable line.

How does this monitor look at home? how does it compare to the viewsonic they have there too, i thought the viewsonic one look better at the store, it was brighter after i pushed the ultrabright button.

TIA

Well, I never relied on the in store dsiplays because they all seem to be sharing the same source through a line splitter or something and they all look like crap--from $1,600 LCDs right down to the cheapie 15" MAGs. At home, the monitor looks great. Colors are nice and all. The only thing I find funky is that since there's so much more real estate, my eyes will have to adjust to reading text on it. Right now, I'm leaving it at 1024X768, but I'll probably bump it up to 1280X1024 after I get used to it. I would say that since you seem very reticent to purchase an ap grille monitor, then this is a good choice for a 19 incher. Consider that this monitor used to go for almost $400 (the earlier model anyway with the slide out tray). The only other thing that I can think of is that the screen behind the glass doesn't appear to be "truly" flat like my NEC 17" monitor. What I mean is that even after adjusting the pincushion, the left top and bottom corners appear ever so slightly curled--I've got a sharp eye though and may just be nitpicking.

I read the forums with the light blue background, and rarely (sometimes in word) do I see the lines. I am anal about anyone touching my screen etc cause I hate fingerprints, but the lines on my 700NF do not bother me at all : )

the 955 DF is a great monitor...

BUT we have 3 in my house and 2 have broken. samsung did replace them, but it was a nuisance, so consider that

I went Saturday night because I figured they'd sell out again--I snagged the last one. Hehe. I didn't bother with their 3 year warranty plan, because the thing COMES with a 3 year warranty to begin with. Most warranty offers from BM stores are bull anyway.

And on a side note, I think I realize now why the BB employees don't make an attempt to help you--apparently, they don't get a % for a lot of the stuff they sell.

I went with the A90f+, so far so good. It's very sleek and the picture looks alot better than the samsung. I guess its all in how you see it. The ultrabrite is insane too. Looks so nice for games!

How were you able to compare the 2 monitors? Store display?

Ive seen them at the store yes, but i also know someone who has a samsung. I can just tell from the ultrabrite feature that it just looks better to me.

Ultrabrite feature? Did you try the Highlight feature on the 955df? :p
