I setup my new pc yesterday. I experimented little bit with my new hardware today. I ran the prime95 stress test and both of my cores went up to high 40's to low 50's . I am not happy with the results because I can't overclock to 3.6Ghz like I originally wanted. My system is as follows: UD3R, GTX 260, Guardian 921 case (3 120mm fans),4gb gskill ddr2 800, vista 64, Rosewill z-3 cpu cooler. Why am I getting these bad temperatures?

p.s. I am happi to play tf2 at max and far cry 2 at ulta high.

"high 40's to low 50's" for an E8400 aren't bad.
Your OC of 3.6GHz should be quite easy given the hardware you're running.
Time to dig deeper...

How much can a e8400 temp go up to? If I do overclock, I just have to increase the FBS from 333 to 400 right

If I'm not mistaken I think the max for an E8400 is something like 72-74c depending on stepping.

Yes, dialing up to 400 from 333 should hit your target of 3.6.
* Make sure your memory is getting the full voltage it's rated at.

Check the voltage in the BIOS.
Depending on which 4GB DDR2-800 kit you're running, the voltages range from 1.8-2.1v
Check your G.Skill model to find out what voltage it's rated at.
