Basically if i want to watch the new high def movies coming out, i must spend like $1500 for a nice lcd monitor to get 1920 resolution.

Also whats the difference between 1080 and 720. Much?

You'll have to spend much more than $1500 unless you don't mind the HP f2304's sh*tty video quality. The only LCD I've seen besides that HP f2304 that can fully resolve 1080i is the Samsung LTP468WX, which is $8000 at Crutchfield. Theoretically and practically, 720p and progressive scanning in general are a bit better since they draw the entire picture on the screen line by line (drawing all lines during one pass) thus creating a sharper image whereas interlaced scanning draws only half of the lines during one pass thus creating a fuzzier effect that is more noticeable in lower resolutions (lower than 1080i). If you'r referring to the 1080p format that WMVHD is offered in, then be aware that no LCD on the U.S. market supports 1080p, and the ones that will early on will cost a fortune. So in that case, picture quality is irrelevant since no monitors support HD 1080p.
