High def CRT?

Totally possible, pretty much any crt monitor sold in the last decade is "high def" and they do sell plenty of very nice looking high def crt's....go to any good eletronics store and just ask for one....should be pretty easy to find in stock as they don't get pushed, i grabbed one last summer for about 300 bucks (widescreen, 1080i/720p) and it pretty much rocks....weighs 160 pounds though so be ready for that

edit: forgot to mention that a huge perk of one of these is that they can display non-native resolutions and not take the huge quality hit that lcd's and whatnot will

Thanks! I figured the only way to get high def was with a plasma or an LCD. Now i feel dumb... 😛

You missed DLP and some others too 😉

Yeah, CRT direct view, CRT rear projection, or CRT front projection are all alive and well 🙂

I have a 40 inch Sony CRT T.V. Biggest CRT T.V. ever made . Does 480i,480p,720p,1080i and has a high def DVI input for your computer.
Cost 3000.00$ about 4 years ago. It's hooked to my Dreamcast!! Go figure.

Edit:And yes it has the best picture I've seen .

If it does resolutions of 1280x720 and 1920x1080 then it's high definition.

High definition is simply a term for 3 particular resolutions: 720p (1280x720 progressive), 1080i (1920x1080 interlaced), and 1080p (1920x1080 progressive).

It's not only high def capable, but more high def than almost all screens out in the market today.

Ive been using a Sony 34XBR960 CRT HDTV for about 8 months and its been excellent , standard 480i / 480P all the way up to 1080i look superb on this model and the black levels are better than any other CRT ive owned. Its a shame Sony discontinued this model, there is nothing like it currently on the market.

XBR960 specs Here.

The best CRT HDTV currently available is the Sony 34XBR970 (specs) but it lacks a super fine pitch tube.. Its a step down from the XBR960 (the 960 retailed for $1,999) but still offers an excellent picture.
