High CPU usage issues

I have been experiencing high cpu usage on my Dell 700m lately associated with the following programs:

- Bitcomet v0.63 (when running consumes ~ 20% and DPC consumption is ~40-60%)
- Any IM software (MSN Messenger/Yahoo/Skype/Googletalk) -- about 20-30% when general chat and about 60% when voice is being used.

I have been using RATTV3 to see the breakdown as to who the culprit is but I am confused as to what column should I look (ISR or DPC Count or DPCTmr Count). I am willing to share the logs.

I would really appreciate any help on this as the laptop is locking up terribly.

I'd run full diagnostics on all hard disks and maybe even run memtest to make sure the memory is still ok.

What OS are you running?

WinXP home.

I hv run Anti-Virus scans (McAfee) with latest updates as well as Adaware. If memory is the issue then why only happen with certain programs?....and btw...ignore my signature....im using a 700m.
