High A10 6800k temperatures

Hey guys,

I'm having a very annoying issue with my new A10 cpu. I bought it for a cheap build to have as a TV pc, play the occasional game on, watch movies etc, but having some issues with keeping it cool.

As its plugged into my TV, i did kind of hope for a quite running processor when idle, but the idle temerature with my Antec 620 running at 100% are about 30-50C depending on running time.

When it had the stock cooler it was running around 60-70C idle and 120C when on full load. i RMA'd that one and this is my new one. Do they run hot normally?

Was hoping that at idle a antec 620 could keep it around 30C blowing at 60% speed. I have the Bitfenix Prodigy case with intake on the back for the CPU and exhaust on the front. Tried either way did not make a difference, tried using different thermal compound aswell, anyone else got high temperatures or know a way i can reduce this? Want to have my fan a bit quieter.

I understand my fan running 100% with in bf3 - which sits around 60-72C

Thanks,

Something's not right there. 120C on an AMD should cause severe crashes. Is it possible that your temps aren't reading right?

A friend of mine just built an A10-5800K rig, and his idles at 30C.

It's probably a sensor that isn't working properly. Check your driver disc for a tuning program instead of using the usual suspects like hwinfo or coretemp etc - the mobo prog should get the right temps.

This has been an annoyance on AMD cpu's for a very long time now.

I had the same problem with a 5600k rig I built, the only program that seemed to report reasonable temperatures was speedfan. Everything else was telling me it was idling at 60C+, which I knew was ridiculous when I felt the heatsink and it was still cold. Speedfan gave me a reading of low 30s which is what it should be at.

This is exactly the same! speed fan was telling me 34C

but everything else including the motherboard was stating 40-50C

could the motherboard be wrong too?

I've just been faffing around with my pin and i think i found a way to stop the constant 100% watercooling fan, so i'll see how that goes! Plugged it into 'cpu_fan1' then plugged my watercooling pump into cpu_fan2 on the motherboard!

I'll see how it goes!

You need to install the ASRock extreme tuning utility on your driver disc and use that for reference, don't use the bios temps for reference as that's even more whacked than most software.

installed and showing the same temperature as speed fan 30C!

Hopefully that may be the true temperature and the bios is wrong

Thanks for that!

I used an Asrock motherboard in my build too so maybe its just a problem with the sensors they use. But Id trust the speedfan temperature above anything else. HWmonitor gave me a reading of 999C one time and that was obviously bogus.

If you can get the fan speed problem under control then you shouldnt worry about the temperatures. They're most likely just fine.

That's the true temp, as others said Speedfan also gives the true temp but sometimes it can be confusing to use.

Yeah that seems to be the issue here. It was reporting 200C at one part... i was rather scared!

Looks like I'm all sorted,

for anyone having this issue or googleing:

Fan issues - stopped using the antec cable guide, plugged the fan directly into the mobo. set the target temp at 45C and then put the fan on lowest speed.

temperature - using asrock extreme and speed fan for temp!

Thanks for your help guys, i look forward to putting my knowledge back to the forums!
