does hidemy ip 2007 2007 software from www.hide-my-ip.com and other software that like it actually work or is it just bunch of crap software? There some people that have been banned over on my local newspaper website. They started there own yahoo group, because of them banned. Someone posted the idea to use www.hide-my-ip.com so they can change/hide their IP address so that they can post back on newspaper web forum.

It uses proxies to receive your web traffic and then redirect it. Personally if you're not actively causing trouble I don't see a reason to use it. Besides, if someone really wanted your hide it wouldn't be that hard to coerce the proxy into give up your IP.

yeah its a lot like using someone else's credit card and trying to get that item shipped to you, without even the postman knowing where its going. petty online mischeif, poxy's good. crime online, nothing can hide you. the internet is PUBLIC and RECORDED at all times, just remember that!

Hmmm,

When go my local internet cafe with free wifi, parked round the corner or course with my mac set to all 0's I think I am quite safe !!!! 😉

if your mac is set to all 0's, it won't work.

Not to mention, you still are not safe. Do you have any idea what they may be collecting?

To do What?

I apreciate the technical inacuracy.

The point I was making is that tracking an IP is only as good as your ability to associate that IP with a user, and a real person.

Plus in the UK the goverment can read your email, internet use and SMS without court order.

This is bad because -

Last year a guy in the uk was questioned by the police due to a text he sent to a fried. The sentence included content about bombs and planes.

In reality they were song lyrics from the tribute band the guy played for.
