Hiding IE Favorites on XP ... Help!

Here is the situation

I have gone from 2000 to XP and now I cannot get the unused IE Links to hide in the Favorites. With 2000 you would just uncheck then check again the "hide unused favorites" in the advanced tab of internet options. Now with XP I still get all the links and folders in favorites. I cannot for the life of me figure out to hide them even after I check the box.

Does anyone know how to get this to work? I am tried od missing w/ it.

Thanks in advance.

Download TweakUI, install it, and run it. The fourth option available should be Explorer. Click it, and in the scrolling menu on the right, scroll down to the bottom, and look for the item that says Show Links on Favorites Menu.
That, or else right-click on the Links menu and select Properties; check the Hidden box. That should get rid of it too. It might also need Read-only checked; can't remember. Try it with and without it.

Enable "personalized favorites menu". I assume this is what you're trying to make happen. The "close unused folders" option only applies to the Favorites Bar (not the dropdown list) and all it does is make the current folder close when you click on another folder.

The Advanced tab in IE's options :D It is enabled by default on XP.

For this function to work the system has to figure out which links you click on the most, use IE for awhile and after a short time the ones you do not use often will hide.

Jeez steve, so freaking impatient. I told you it was "use personalized menus" although, admittedly, I didn't remember where the checkbox was.

On my XP machine, it took probably 2 weeks for it to start hiding them, that's when I turned off personalized menus though, so its been a while since I've seen it do it.
