It doesn't say MS's official reason for frowning on it. Granted it's an opposing company's product, but why would MS care? MS doesn't have anything that comes close to offering the kind of things that an iPod does, so why do they care that their employees are, essentially, taking measures to raise morale? Let your employees have them. It's not a frickin concentration camp, it's a job. If your employees are happy with them, why take them away just to be assholes? That's going to irritate a lot of people and make MS look even worse.

My friend has an ipod but he doesn't like to keep the white earphone. Even the bum has ipod now. So my friend bought a Sennheiser earphone for $200, black color!

Who is "they"? Microsoft? If that's the case, "they" also support Apple. I still don't see what the problem is.

they as in Microsoft. THEY support rca, creative, rio w/ their playsforsure crap. rca, creative, and rio are direct competitors with apple. This is why they frown on using iPod.

This is actually a pretty big deal. Imagine working at a Ford plant or research center. Would you show up to work every day in your brand new Honda/Suburu/Chevy/etc... I doubt it, and if you did you certainly wouldn't be treated the same.

By using the iPod, all these people are most likely also using iTunes, a product that competes with Microsoft software with competing file formats among other things. They are supporting a competing company.(it doesn't matter if MS owns a portion of Apple)

This kind of thing can get you fired at minimum in some buisinesses.

LOL.. are you trying to say that everyone who works at Ford drives a Ford? EDIT: and if not, they are shunned by their coworkers and managers?

I see Japanese cars parked at the local Ford dealership all the time. These aren't your average Toyotas, either. They're Avalons, Lexuses, and Acuras.

The Microsoft manager said he's heard from several executives who dutifully bought Microsoft-powered players, tried them, failed to get them working, and returned them in favor of an iPod. He went through the same experience, he said.
Microsoft managers aren't very bright these days -- looks like the empire is decaying from the top down.

Filling up my Nomad Zen Xtra with 250 CDs from my collection was pretty painless via Nomad Explorer. I admit a complete n00b might have had trouble with the original CD ripping (thanks EAC + FLAC!) or in transcoding from FLAC to MP3 (thanks dbPowerAmp!) but MS execs aren't supposed to be clueless n00bs.

Edit: and the softies would probably have just toed the party line and used Media Player to rip directly to WMA in one step. Maybe that was their problem? :)

Their empire is decaying? What are you smoking? Microsoft is still #1 by a long shot and they don't show any signs of relinquishing that title any time soon.

 for using the expression "toe the line" correctly! The rest of your post was good too :)
