Hide and Seek

Spooner

Hide and Seek is your standard thriller. It's shot well and for about the first hour and 20 minutes it's a pretty good movie, but the ending is awful. It's written poorly and just really bad. De Niro does a good job for the most part, until he has to sing nursery rhymes at the end. He almost pulls it off, but the writing is so ridiculous that it swallows him alive in its stupidity. Dakota Fanning does a good throughout the movie as well.. The movie isn't as bad as the know-nothing critics have made it out to be, but it's not really good either. This is one of those movies you can watch once and you'll forget it existed a few days after seeing it. At least 75 percent of the movies made today are like that. Watch it, and forget it.

Saw it last night. I thought it was well made. I didn't have a problem with the ending because I had figured out almost the entire story within the first 20 minutes, perhaps even sooner. It was more or less broadcast to me by use of cliches and formula plot points. So after that it was just seeing how everything unfolded and watching the acting. It was a bit better than some other horror/thriller movies I've seen recently, like The Jacker, Trauma, Cursed, etc. That's not saying much, though. Worth seeing for free, I guess.

i couldn't agree more about the white noise comments. the ending blew. period. it was a fascinating story line but the ending was ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND STUPID.

omg white noise ghosts are eating me!1!1!1!!!1!

hahaha yea, i liked white noise up until like the last 5 minutes of the movie, then it was completely ruined.

it seems that is the general gist of horror movies now a days. they have a good build up but then just a big let down.

The same was said for Hide and Seek (although the end isn't THAT bad, but yes, it could have been better), White Noise, and that french movie High Tension. The end of High Tension was good, but they could have made the ending so much better if it was just simpler.

I recommend High Tension though, good movie.

I watch Hide & Seek last night...it was alright. Dakota was incredible.

I don't understand the movie very well though...I mean I "get" it, but it just didn't add up in my head.

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER IMPLIED ***

That's possibly because they cheated and showed things during the movie which didn't actually happen once the full story was revealed. A cheap trick that no movie should use.

This movie was horrible. I love Dakota, I love DeNiro, I hated them both in this movie. GOD! If you have seen Secret Window, don't bother with this.
