I have this little problem in my system, I have a Dial-up connection, and when I stop browsing, the little connection icon in the task bar still shows me that something is using the internet, when I click on it to view the status, I see the recieved and sent Kbytes are increasing, which means there's something working, probably downloading something! I checked the taskmanager, but nothing looked suspicous, and the CPU usage was around 0%!
Any help, please

Try adaware [free]
spybot [free]

get some antivirus software lots of free ones. try avg/avaunt/panda/titanium/sophos etc- very important.
maybe think about installing kerio firewall.

Is it necessary to download this application while I have NAV 2k4 already installed? I mean does this application do a different job?

Just got off the phone with my daughter who work the IT desk at MIT, she rports a nasty new variant out there. The same advice applies, run Windows OS critical updates & update virus definitions.

And your OS is?

Have you configured your system? Things like MS updates, AV updates (and a thousdand and one legit things) etc all use the internet but not neccesserilly (how the hell do you spell that bloody word?) thru a browser. Turn the little blighters OFF. I posted a list about a month back of XP services that can be killed try a SEARCH.

If this is happening everday and everytime your online than you have a virus or trojan horse.
It sounds more like one of the new trojans going around. they are very nasty and nav can not
detect them yet. if you have have XP use control alt delete and check if what applications
are running. if you see anything unfamilier that might be whats causeing it.
Also check the proccesses and look for something you don't recognize as normal.

I have read the spyware thread, and I checked my Program Files directory, and I found something suspicious, it's a folder named "xerox", it's empty, but when I try to delete it, it says the folder is already in use, unable to delete, I switched to safe mod, then I was able to delete it, but when I restarted the PC I found the folder again! I used Ad-aware to scan it but it didn't find anything inside, I also used Spybot (both are updated) same result.
So what should I do? :( I think this is the source of my problem

First, what do you have for antivirus? If you don't have anything, go here and run this. You're on dialup (like I am) so it will take awhile for it to download...

Then from Schadenfroh's spyware thread, download and run HiJackThis. Press SCAN, then copy and post the log that it creates back here. DO NOT FIX ANYTHING WITH IT YET -- HJT is a powerful tool, but can turn your computer into a paperweight if used incorrectly! There are a couple of us around here who can help you interpret the log and tell you what to fix.
