Hidden hard drive & partitions

For some reason when I install new hard drives on my computer they do not show up under "My Computer." However, if I open PartitionMagic, wallah, there it is. They are always set as hidden partitions but I cant unhide them I have tried several times through PartitionMagic, but it never works. The only way I can even know if the hard drive is there is if PM is installed, no command prompts or F:/ commands work, but it shows up as F:/ under PM. I am using WinXP Pro

Any comments are greatly appreciated.

PS. I no longer have PartitionMagic installed.

Did you partition and format the drive?

Yes, I did, it has my backup files on it, but I used a Ghost program for that. PM sees the drive perfectly, but had it labeled as a "hidden partition".
