hidden folders not hidden

win xp sp2 pro..

i set a folder, using folder properties, on hidden, but they just appear on the screen (albeit they look lighter than other folders)...

how can i actually get them to disappear from the folder listing?

If you are logged in as admin, then try logging in as another user - see if that sorts it out.

From windows explorer, select tools->folder options, click on the view tab and deselect the option 'show hidden files and folders'

If you want to hide stuff from other people who may use the computer, you need to set up individual user accounts...
