I have an HP machine with a trigem mb.

I can get to the bios, but it is a very generic bios.

Is there a way, to get into the entire bios?

When I turn on the pc, I get this message:

Warning error 0270: real time clock error.
Warning error: 0251 system cmos checksum bad.
Also 2 beeps.

I've replaced the battery, and tried 4 different brands of memory.
I hit f1(f2?) and the pc continues to boot, I reset the clock, and the pc works the way I want it to.
If I do a reboot, the pc boots as it should.
If I turn off the pc, and then turn it back on, a few hours later, it won't boot, as it should.

Thanks, for any help that you can give me.
Raymond

what mobo and hardware do you have.

READ your manual and learn how to setup the bios settings for your mobo.

The real time clock has to be setup in the bios

I don't have the manual for this motherboard.

I reset the clock in the bios, before I posted this request.

This mb, has onboard video, sound, and I haven't changed or added anything to it.

Enjoy the day,

HP has support forums where you will get a definitive answer in short order, give them a go :)

There is only one BIOS. If the system OEM chose to simplify the amount of selectable options, then it's how it is. You'd be surprised about how few things are actually NEEDED, and how much of it is obsolete clutter and useless tweaking toys.

What you need to do is enter the BIOS, load the default settings, make your own adjustments, SAVE and exit. With a working battery in, of course.

Peter,
Thank you for your help.

I've done all of the things that you've mentioned.

I've come to the conclusion, that this mb, has a problem recognizing the battery.

I've tried 3 different new and used (pulled from working mb's) batteries, with the same result.

Enjoy the day,
Raymond

That or you simply forgot to move the "CMOS Clear" jumper onto its Normal position.
