My friend tells me that this thing is popular in Japan, solar-powered, and moves.

I don't get it, though. What moves? Is it creepy? Anyone ever see one in real life?

depending on which model you get, it nods its head up and down in like a yes fashion, under its own solar power.

it also doubles as a [single] business card holder as well.

its supposed to be a stress reliever or desk toy i guess

I don't find them there... I do find them at JList.com and they're like $14 to $16.50 plus shipping ($6 for me). Is that expensive?

Maybe you're half blind? It's in the Life Style section. And they call it Tomy Sunny Nohohon People at Audio Cubes.

You're right.

Using the search function for "Hidamari" and/or "Tami" yielded nothing.

Clicking on the "Life Style" category, going past the "Toys" and "Figures" subcategories, clicking on the "life style" subcategory, then moving to the second page... well that is intuitive! How the hell did I miss it??!
