HID lights on cheaper cars?

Well, I have always associated HID lights to luxury cars, as something of a luxurious feature not available on cheaper cars. I was asking if anyone thinks this will effect luxury cars in anyway, as in sales, or future options for luxury cars.

depends on the car

hids' on a normal car = okay

hids' on an suv = death

Yea, I agree, and some luxury SUVs dont even offer the HID option. One of Lexus's top SUVs, either the LX or the GX, or maybe both, dont offer HIDs.

I don't understand why people need them.. but then again not everyone is going to keep a perfect driving record the rest of their life either 😛

As long as they're set up and angled correctly, they are not a safety hazard to anybody..and as said below is a safety feature.

RIGHT.
these friggin' things are TOO bright. even on normal setting they blind you. it's worse when they're on an SUV or one of those huge pick-ups, the goddamm headlights are so high up they fill your car with light when one of these pinhead drivers is tailgating you. I'm always flashing my brights at people thinking they have their brights on.
why does anyone need 500 trillion watts of candlepower on a lighted street?
it's another symptom of the american obsession with More, Better, Bigger, Faster, Brighter, etc.

When you have more deer per square mile than people and heavily wooded shoulders of a road, I'll take all the more visibility I can get when doing 55+MHP at 11:00 at night.

yeah, but what about the safety of drivers coming in the opposite direction as you? i know deer can be a problem, but damn those lights are fvcking too bright.

IMO, I love the HID lamps. Even on SUVs they are not an issue, as long as they are properly aimed. As far as aiming is concerned, on my brother's car, when you turn the lights on, you see them actually aim themselves. They start aimed very low to the ground, then it adjusts itself accordingly.

Some people who own older vehicles love to upgrade their lights to HID, but in turn, do not have the proper mounting hardware and do not self-adjust. I'm willing to bet that the cars that you get annoyed at are the ones that have either been upgraded, or have the low quality non self-adjusting units.

I'm also pretty sure that the HID fixtures on the Toyota and the Mazda do not self-adjust = )

They CAN'T blind you if they are aligned properly. If they could blind you, so could halogens.

I live in an area like that, and my solution is to drive slower... What good will brighter lights do if the deer comes out of the woods in front of you anyway?

Edit: They're fine on cars, not on SUVs. SUVs are bad enough with normal headlights shining directly in my eyes

LOL I always laugh at that. Plus they can't aim their lights! Most of them have one of the two lights pointing in a totally different direction.

I'd gladly take HID's any day over obnoxious fog lamps that are the size of coffee cans on many domestic cars, trucks, & SUV's.
