My parents got this gift box for Christmas.

And it had the typical smoked sausage, which was quite tasty.

And the hot mustard :)

But the best thing ever, it had this smoked cheese in it. It was a swiss/cheddar mixed, with a great smoky taste. Have any of you guys had it? What else is good from Hickory Farms?'

In words of Jack Black: Holy shit balls. This is good.

Hickory Farms generally sucks, but that hot mustard is good. You can usually get a lot nicer cheeses elsewhere.

yes, and it's real cheese not processed cheese food like HF sells.

For christmas, I gave my parents a basket filled with several cheeses from the Sam's Club deli, including a nice Jarslburg, Gouda, Brie, and a Smoked Applewood Cheddar. Added in some gourmet mustard and a sausage log, and all for under $50. There was over 5 pounds of cheese alone. For $50 from HF you's be lucky to get 3 pounds combined of their products.

I really like HF. I'll have to try the Smoked Applewood Cedar you talk about. It sounds great.

LMK people what other cheeses are yummy.

What would be a good place to buy those cheeses online (at a decent price)?

Not really sure online. My wife got me a couple of nice things from iGourmet. I usually buy locally from Sams or a cheese shop a little ways from here.

oh, and for comparison, I got 4 times as much Jarlsburg at Sams as I would have from the local grocery store for the same price (same brand)

actually, the Jarlsburg WAS about the size of an alternator for an 88 Honda Accord.

My sister worked at Hickory Farms in the mall near our house for about two years when I was in Jr. High. I think I became addicted to their products in that time, but I quit cold-turkey when I left for college.

Only recently have I allowed myself to partake in HF products again, but only socially (i.e. at parties and not alone sitting on my couch scarfing down entire beef sticks and cheese balls watching football).

Just head to a store like Whole Foods, Wild Oats, Trader Joe's or any other specialty/boutique store and you'll have far better products than HF, and likely for a better price.

I got one of these too. It's called the "Nibbler". Tasty tasty processed deliciousness.
