Hiccups in my cable connection

Everything else on our home network is working fine, but the cable modem seems to go on the fritz very frequently (at least every 10 minutes). The lapses are only momentary, but they're enough to stop any downloads and occasionally make web browsing very slow. A Comcast tech came out before and changed a few things with a splitter. That brought the upstream and downstream power into normal ranges, but now this is happening. I'm going to call Comcast again, but I wanted to see if anybody on here has had a similar problem or knows how to fix this issue.

Are you using a Linksys wcg200 Wireless G Cable Gateway? My cable provider is Comcast and that is the router they gave me. The wireless connection resets every so often depending (I'm guessing) on the amount of bandwidth I'm using. Such as streaming video or bittorrent. Sometimes it will not reset, but my wireless clients will get a "very poor" connection for a few minutes every once in a while. I've looked up information on the router and it seems to be the root cause of the problems (random resets, configuration settings lost, random slow connections with wireless). I haven't went out and bought a different one yet but I'm pretty sure it is the problem based on reviews I've read for the router. I've not found any firmware updates either.

I don't know if that helps or maybe it'll give you some ideas.

That's not the router that we're using, but thanks. We tried disconnecting everybody from the switch and putting the 4 of us who would fit directly on the router. It seems to have helped, so we're thinking something about the way our switch was interacting with the rest of our hardware might have been screwing the network up.

There are some people in the Comcast forum on DSLReports who have been talking about their Internet freezing or pausing recently. Could this be what you are experiencing?

Hmm, maybe. I called Comcast and the CS lady said she checked and my modem was connecting fine with no problem. She told me that she was 100% sure that the problem was on my side with my network. Of course she barely spoke English and I knew way more about networking than her, so I don't know how competent she was, but she was friendly.

Yes, but I wasn't able to leave it connected that way for long enough to determine if there were problems.
