2 day old fresh install of W7 64bit
latest drivers
Hibernation enabled

When i click Hibernate on the start menu, screen goes blank then comes back on 4 seconds later. Any fix?
Always worked fine on my lappy, but refuses to work on desktop.😕

Check your OS drive root and make sure hiberfil.sys is present for duty, and that you have enabled hibernation in your Power Options.

  1. Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
  2. In the search results list, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator.
  3. When you are prompted by User Account Control, click Continue.
  4. At the command prompt, type powercfg.exe /hibernate on, and then press ENTER.
  5. Type exit and then press ENTER to close the Command Prompt window.
To switch it Off to the same, but use the command powercfg.exe /hibernate off

Good call, Jack! I forgot that one - I always use it to disable hibernation - I consider it an unreliable, buggy nuisance. 🙂

Hiber is already on, as i mentioned. But i forgot to mention that Sleep also does the same thing. so it wont standbye nor hiber.

I consider it an unreliable, buggy nuisance.
actually i find sleep unreliable. PC wakes up whenever it wants despite all the hardware wake on events turned off. Hence why i prefer and user hibernate...its always worked in the past but not this time for some reason.
I got word it may be from a recent windows update.

Agree! I too find sleep unreliable - and ergo, I use neither one.

Could be that an update changed power settings. There are a bunch every month.
