Ok, I have my motherboard and it has came to my attention that there is a small chance the processor i have now is not compatible with the motherboard. Right now i have a store bought computer heres the specs (Emachine btw 🙁) :

VIA KM 266
7.25"w x 14.125"h x 16"d
120 GB HDD
AOL 3 month membership included, click here for details
512 MB DDR (PC 2100)
56K* ITU v.92 ready Fax/Modem
10/100Mbps built-in Ethernet

6 USB 2.0 ports (2 on front), 1 Serial, 1 Parallel, 2 PS/2, Microphone-In & Head Phone jack on front, Audio-In & Out, 3 PCI slots (2 available)

No where on there does it list what socket number it is compatible with.
Here is the motherboard I ordered:

So, is there another way of finding out if it is compatible or not? Please help asap!
P.S IF you know it is do tell, and if you know of a good cheap heatsink for under 10 dollars plz link.
Thanks in advance

Edit: Sorry i put wrong motherboard, please look again if you haven't done so already.

So you have the Via and you're getting the Asus? If that's the case, you have no worries. The Asus is perfectly capable of supporting your CPU.

A7N8X? yes that will work perfectly!!! for a 2600XP+ for a Heat sink head over to SVC and check this heatsink out. GC68 should be fine for you. its like 4.99 plus shipping and handling. GL!!!

Ok thanks for the help guys, I was just worried that the socket and socket number wasn't compatible 🙂! Thanks guys

Few things here, is there even a small chance that this mobo and processor won't be compatible. And my other question is if this heatsink is compatible with it:

The motherboard supports Athlons from 200MHz bus all the way up to 400MHz bus, and yours is a 266, you're good to go.
