This is the best forum ive found, and i need to ask other people what they think about my plans for the future.

Im 20 years old, and havent accomplished much this past 2 years. Im thinking about joining the army reserve so i can pay for my Respiratory Therapist training( i have no idea how much it costs). Im pretty smart and live in San Antonio, best medical field there is. I know that medical jobs are in high demand, so its been tough narrowing down what career i want. Is LVN a better choice?? What do you think about what im doing??
I dont want to spend too much time in college.

Thx

i think anything medical related is a good choice, the baby boomers are all retiring/getting old and they have $ to pay for medical stuff to keep them alive

If you join the Army Reserve, you'll probably get called up for active duty, so you shouldn't plan on going to college for some time.

Yep.

My Brother in law was in the reserve...he's in Afghanistan for 18 months right now.

Doctors... pffft.

It's a business, nothing more. Recently was billed $155.00 for 10 minutes worth of Nitrous Oxide by a orthodontist. Haven't paid that BS yet.

Asked four doctors to transfer records to a new GP. One, that I had visited only once, replied he wanted a $25.00 administration fee for that.

I was once referred to a specialist by another specialist. Upon arriving at his office, I was told that I'd need a referral from my GP. Between the receptionist and myself, we assumed the GP would handle this after the fact. When called, he refused to do this, because I hadn't been to his office inside of a year. He's the one who referred me to the first specialist, the one who told me to see another one. The GP's secretary couldn't believe he wouldn't give the OK. He not only lost my business, but the rest of my family as well.

My respect for doctors is somewhere close to used car salesmen and real estate agents.

If you are looking to join the military and have it paid for, become a corpsman in the Navy. Great training and it's along the same line as nursing, unless you get hooked up with a marine squad, then its trauma medicine. (more like paramedic, otherwise you work in the hospital setting.)

try radiologist (not radiology technician, radiologist with an MD).
