Hi, just curious why my thread about Steve Jobs on TechTV was locked

From the Forum FAQ:

<< 9. Sometimes a moderator will delete a thread, other times they will lock it, and leave it to delete later. Locked and left up usually means that we want other users to have a chance to view the thread to get an idea of what is/is not allowed.
A thread that is deleted immediately is either 1) Because it is offensive, or 2) There is a similar locked thread existing in the forum.

Personally, I wish the mods would make a point of commenting on every lock aside from the most obvious ones. Given the crippled nature of the non-subscriber search feature however, giving a reason on a lock becomes more important, both to help explain what's wrong with the post and to keep threads like it from popping up. It's now not as reasonable to expect the non-subscribing posters to use the search function to check for a repost.
