Imagine this place as a huge bar. You and perhaps a few other women walk in, and find a few married men like myself not on the prowl, but just kicking back. You look behind us, and see a few misogynists wondering what you are doing invading their space, and then you see the majority of patrons- geeky, slobbering, socially inept males sniffing after you like hound dogs while you desperately try to ignore them.
